Introduction A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is a medicine used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure). It is a combination of two medicines that helps to control blood pressure when a single medication is not effective. It helps to reduce chances of any future heart attack and stroke. It is taken by mouth (orally), with food, preferably at the same time each day. Regular monitoring of kidney function and electrolytes is important while using this medicine. This medicine may cause dehydration, so it is better to take plenty of fluids. Inform doctor if you develop extreme thirst, muscle weakness, or dry mouth. Dizziness may occur due to low blood pressure but this gets better with time. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. How A2B H Tablet works A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Telmisartan and hydrochlorothiazide which lowers the blood pressure effectively. Telmisartan is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It works by blocking the hormone angiotensin thereby relaxing blood vessels. This allows the blood to flow more smoothly and the heart to pump more efficiently. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that removes extra water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time it also relaxes blood vessels and improves blood flow. A2B H Tablet related warnings Alcohol UNSAFE It is unsafe to consume alcohol with A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet Taking Hydrochlorothiazide with alcohol may have additive effects in lowering blood pressure. You may experience headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, fainting, and/or changes in pulse or heart rate. Pregnancy CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor. Lactation SAFE IF PRESCRIBED A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Driving UNSAFE A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur. Kidney CAUTION A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Liver CAUTION A2B H 40 mg/12.5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease.
