Introduction of AB-Pril Tablet AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet helps reduce high blood pressure, thus lowering the chances of any future heart attack and stroke. It may also be used to improve the symptoms of chronic (long-standing) heart failure. It helps to preserve kidney function, especially in patients with diabetes. This medicine may be used alone or in combination with other medicines. It is taken on an empty stomach, preferably at the same time each day. Some patients may develop cough or throat irritation as a side effect while using this medicine. It may also cause dizziness initially, but this improves with time. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach. How AB-Pril Tablet works AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet is an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It works by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessel so that blood flows more smoothly and the heart can pump blood more efficiently. AB-Pril Tablet related warnings Alcohol CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor. Pregnancy CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Please consult your doctor. Lactation SAFE IF PRESCRIBED AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby. Use of AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet immediately after child birth should be avoided. Driving UNSAFE AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur. Kidney CAUTION AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function test, and potassium levels is recommended while you are taking this medicine. Liver CAUTION AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Inform your doctor if you experience fatigue, develop yellowing of the skin and eyes or white stools while taking this medicine. What if you miss a dose of AB-Pril Tablet? If you miss a dose of AB-Pril 5 mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
