Introduction of Acardase Tablet Acardase 25 mg Tablet is a medicine used in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It should be taken just before meals as it lowers the post-meal blood sugar levels. This prevents the long-term complications of diabetes mellitus. Use of Acardase 25 mg Tablet along with a proper diet and exercise results in better blood sugar control. Initially, it may cause side effects such as stomach pain, bloating, and gas, but these get better with time. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Acardase 25 mg Tablet is to be taken with food. How Acardase Tablet works Acardase 25 mg Tablet is an anti-diabetic medication. It inhibits an enzyme that helps in conversion of carbohydrates to glucose. This slows down carbohydrate digestion/absorption thereby preventing increase in blood glucose after meals. Acardase Tablet related warnings Alcohol UNSAFE It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Acardase 25 mg Tablet Taking acarbose with alcohol may affect blood glucose levels in patients with diabetes. Pregnancy SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Acardase 25 mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies. Lactation SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Acardase 25 mg Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby. Driving SAFE Acardase 25 mg Tablet does not usually affect your ability to drive. Kidney CAUTION Acardase 25 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Acardase 25 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Acardase 25 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Liver CAUTION Acardase 25 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Acardase 25 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor. Use of Acardase 25 mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. What if you miss a dose of Acardase Tablet? If you miss a dose of Acardase 25 mg Tablet, skip it and continue with your normal schedule. Do not double the dose.
