Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time. How Acef Plus Tablet works Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Cefpodoxime Proxetil and Clavulanic Acid. Cefpodoxime Proxetil is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefpodoxime Proxetil against bacteria. Acef Plus Tablet related warnings Alcohol CONSULT YOUR DOCTOR It is not known whether it is safe to consume alcohol with Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet. Please consult your doctor. Pregnancy SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies. Lactation SAFE IF PRESCRIBED Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby. Driving UNSAFE Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet may cause side effects such as allergic reactions, dizziness or fits that may make you unfit to drive. Kidney CAUTION Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Acef Plus 200mg/125mg Tablet may be needed.
